Lythica - Fury Murry’s - 02/08/02
Ready for exposure Glasgow-based band Lythica employ a traditional guitars/drums/bass format. Their music would have to be somewhat sketchily described as Indie leaning comfortably against slow rock, combining passionate playing with lyrical talent. Kicking off with one of their more political tunes ‘Our Spartakus’, containing quotes from Marx and Lucretius,
we are invited to enter a world where real angst is portrayed in emotive lyrics. The set was a mixture of electric and acoustic styles with a foot-tappingly good beat, which encouraged the crowd to venture towards the stage and take part in the enjoyment that was already evident among the performers.
In this particular performance Lythica showcased their ability to perform as well as their ability to produce fine tunes. Songs like ‘Shattered’, ‘Mr. Brown’ and ‘Overcast’ are sure to steer them towards the recognition they deserve.
